Overall Satisfaction with IBM POWER9 Servers

I work for an IBM Business Partner. We implemented Power9 E950 solution for one of our Health Care clients.

Solution Detail:
2*E950 with PowerHA enterprise edition to Implement EPIC Database and EPIC Reporting server
Few S924 for ECP Application server

Pros

  • Higher memory bandwidth
  • Excellent performance for EPIC Database from Power9 processor, configured E950 as per EPIC guideline and it works amazing
  • Really liked Hot Swappable IO feature compare to E850 (IO Cassettes)

Cons

  • Can't add it to enterprise pool
  • First... haven't had any downtime related to hardware failure
  • Second.... PowerHA improved over the years and now it works significantly better.
Power9 enterprise servers are best suitable for any scale up applications and provide greater bandwidth for memory and processor for consolidation.
