Overall Satisfaction with IBM watsonx.ai
We actually used most of the watsonx.ai suite and some o the watsonx.data. We tried to prototype some of our ongoing projects (hosted on another cloud services) on IBM on a way to compare the service/prices and what they could offer. Most of our needs, as a Research Institute it's to try novel approaches using state-of-the-art technology. IBM has a very reasonable suite for AI applications on this scop.e
Pros
- Catalog foundational models
- Showcase their performance easily on PromptLab
- Simple (small) RAG utility with in-memory vector index
Cons
- Overall usability of the platform
- Hard to find some products that could be showcased on the early pages of the cloud, as watson Orchestrate
- Lots of hard to understand errors happening when trying to create some services as Milvus
- Not so easy to integrate with intern services on others suites inside the ibm cloud
- Using prompt lab for testing models and prototyping is easy
- Some of the resources are a bit hidden, so we have to take time meeting with support team to understand better features
- watsonx.ai governance makes very quick governance for data on AI
Governance and scaffolding a lot of the GenAI process and keep data secure
Most of the use cases can be done on other clouds like GCP. Maybe the most different application we can see is about governance and transparence, that other clouds don't seem to offer that well.
