Overall Satisfaction with IBM webMethods
I use IBM WebMethods products to develop solutions that solve the complex integration needs of Enterprises. Some use cases include integration with various backends, such as databases, SAP, and MQ, using webMethods Adapters, as well as transforming and transitioning messages between two trading partners. With the API Management suite of products, we can manage the lifecycle of APIs and leverage these APIs for monetization and Open banking needs amongst various other use cases.
Pros
- Integration with various backends using the Adapter pattern.
- Integration with a native(Universal Messaging) or JMS messaging provider.
- API Management.
- Encapsulating the code complexities with Flow Language.
Cons
- Applying product fixes with zero downtime.
- Configuration and secrets management during deployments.
- Adopting Git-first based approach for development.
- Reduce complexities around product upgrades from one version to another.
- Seamlessly managing 100s of Trading Partners.
- Support for plenty of adapters and connectors which hides the code complexity and overall maintenance efforts.
- Use of BPM helped in streamlining company processes and providing automation. Reduced paperwork and increased efficiency.
Integration Server provides a Central runtime for service orchestration, mediation, and API exposure. Support for rich out-of-the-box adapters (JDBC, SAP, JMS, MQ, flat files, etc.). Supports custom adapters when native support isn’t available. Robust error handling, transaction management, and clustering for high availability. Full API lifecycle management, starting from design to publish and to securely monitor. Support for both runtime and repository-based Automated deployments. Visibility into business processes with monitoring, SLA tracking, and alerts.
Point-to-point integrations with brittle custom code were a nightmare for maintenance.
Each system is connected differently (DB scripts, batch jobs, manual file transfers). Onboarding of Trading Partners was a cumbersome and time-consuming process. No central visibility into trading partner transactions. Manual copying of packages and config between environments.
High risk of human error, inconsistent setups.
