Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF
I use Power PDF to view and edit PDF files, create files, sign documents securely, and to create fillable forms and documents to use in contracts, change orders, subcontracts and other business needs.
Pros
- PDF to text/convert to office files
- Securely sign documnets
- creating editable and/or uneditable forms and documents
- Viewing standard PDF files
Cons
- Sometimes the edit PDF mode doesn't read all of the type on the pages when converting it to editable
- Make adding text to existing PDF files easier
- allow users to create custom stamps for approvals
- Converting to word documents saves time if I need to be able to recreate a PDF or scan into a new form
- The fact that I can purchase a standalone version without a subscription is a huge cost savings over the life of the computer it's installed on.
- Secure signing has saved us money by eliminating our need for a subscription to a specific document execution software.
In general, Kofax Power PDF is easy to use for basic PDF functions. Where it shines is in the security and comments sections. Those portions are very intuitive. It could do better in the editing of PDF Files, have a more robust "convert to editable" function, and make editing PDF Files more user friendly. It is somewhat difficult to have things line up when adding to files.
- Adobe Acrobat and Foxit PDF Editor (FoxitPhantom)
Kofax shines in the security features (Signing functions) and comments (for others to make changes to documents), but true editing of documents can get cumbersome. This is mostly due to the "convert to editable" function not being as robust as other software. Since most of what I do consists of receiving bids and creating contracts for execution, I chose Kofax, as it allowed me to securely send documents for signatures and eliminated the need for a subscription based document signing program. In addition to the software itself, the fact that it is reasonably priced and not subscription based was very attractive to me and my team because of the cost savings associated with the purchase.
