Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

We use Kofax Power PDF to edit and assemble documents, maps, and other exhibits for reports and presentations, as well as assembling sets of construction documents to post on the web for contractors to download and use to bid projects. Specific functional uses include combining existing PDF files into one file and creating new PDF files from other formats.
  • Combining multiple files into one PDF is simple.
  • Editing (notation) of PDF files is fairly easy and straightforward.
  • The ability to add, remove and replace pages in a document is easy & works well.
  • Tech support for the ongoing issue I have reported has not been helpful.
  • Several users reported that if a file is left open but inactive for 15-20 minutes the pages go blank. This happens with files of all sizes. Tech support has been unable to find a solution and basically said sorry, we can't figure it out, you're on your own.
  • Time savings with the ability to combine multiple documents for uploading has been very helpful.
  • Time lost due to the issues mentioned earlier is a big negative, any edits not saved when the pages go blank are lost.
  • We mainly use the editing capabilities to add notes, lines, and shaded areas on maps. The tools are fairly easy to use and intuitive.
Overall it is an easy product to use, and the tools are fairly intuitive to learn.
We used Nuance Power PDF prior to purchasing Kofax Power PDF to get the updated version. We didn't have issues with the Nuance version. We recently evaluated Nitro PDF editor and didn't have the issue with the pages going blank.
Tech support initially tried to help but basically abandoned the issue once they could not make progress on determining a cause.
