Overall Satisfaction with Linode

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We host a number of database, web, and mail servers with Linode. Most of Hagel Technologies' cloud infrastructure is consolidated on Linode VMs. These servers are used across the whole organization.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Rock solid servers. Very few issues over the years.
Support is helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable.
Pricing is competitive.

Cons

There could be more flexibility in the VM configurations that Linode offers.

Return on Investment

Linode pricing is great for us. Since we just run some VMs, it's a significantly better deal than, say, Amazon or any other bigger cloud provider.

At one time we had some of our VMs running on Digital Ocean servers as well. Eventually, we realized that
* We had a better experience with Linode support than with Digital Ocean support.
* We liked Linode's dashboard more than Digital Ocean's.

So we consolidated all our servers with Linode.

Support Rating

We
had very few issues over the years, and when we did, Linode support was always
very forthcoming, truthful, and helpful. The issues were also resolved quickly.

Other Software Used

Veeam Backup & Replication, Amazon Simple Email Service

Likelihood to Recommend

Linode is great when you want to manage your own infrastructure in the cloud and basically want a set of "vanilla" Linux VMs to run your own software.

When your needs are more elaborate, you want a managed service, or you need a lot of elasticity, then a bigger cloud provider might be a better fit.
