Overall Satisfaction with Linode

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I created a website for managing operations for a karate studio. I used Linode for hosting the web and database.

Pros and Cons

Pros

When I started searching for a hosting provider to replace what I was using at Yahoo, I looked for someone who was inexpensive and offered web and database software. Linode was selected as it met these objectives.
Since I started with Linode, the UI and services provided have become more beneficial. I have used DNS, backup and the scripting for provisioning new servers.

Cons

As time went on, my need to provide the service to my client diminished and I wanted to maintain a small footprint, ideally with a low cost backup so I could easily spin up the resources if I needed them in the future. This wasn't as cheap or easy as I wanted.

Support Rating

I've asked for and received help a few times and had no issues with the service received.

Likelihood to Recommend

For simple low cost website hosting, Linode is a great option to consider. AWS is an alternative, but I find it overwhelming to the average small system developer/owner.
