Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Defender for Cloud
Microsoft Defender for Cloud is a native security capability that is quick and easy to enable. The cost is minimal for the amount of protection it provides.
Pros
- Native Security Controls for Cloud Resources.
- Auditing and Logging of Security Events.
- Multiple Alerting Methods.
Cons
- Some features require enablement across tenant/subscription/service.
- The security console changed significantly during our implementation phase.
- We have security coverage for all cloud deployed resources.
Primarily Azure and on-prem.
It does not reduce threat alerts. But if we did not have these services enabled, we would not be aware of changes to our environment that could put us at risk of compromise. The alerts we do receive are valid and do require action, which is extremely important to our risk posture.
Yes, it's native and fully supports the Azure environment. That is simple and effective. Any CNAPP, ASPM, or CSPM tool will cost a minimum of $150,000 for a large enterprise.
Had some coverage gaps and was more expensive compared to native Azure security controls, such as Defender for Cloud.
