Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint

We use this product as a modern EDR in charge of protecting our endpoints against malware, absolutely. And against all the threats that are addressed to the endpoints.

Pros

  • We love the accuracy that it has when detection of malware, for example. We love that, against the normal antivirus for example. So we think that the machine learning behind is powerful enough in order to keep us on a good baseline.

Cons

  • We have identified that, there is an enormous confusion because people don't know if this product can be used on servers, for example. And there are many problems associated to this confusion in the market. We have found that along the years, and that's a real issue when we have to clarify it with customers because competitors are positioning one single agent against. We have to explain it to them that, for example, this client, the defender for endpoint does not work when you try to install it on servers. So that's a problem.
  • I think for us, it has been a good investment in the sense that we have not had to mix or to make additional adjustments, for example by using special use cases. I think the overall use cases that we need in the company are already covered in the scope of this product.
  • Other
Price could be a good element differentiator, but most importantly the fact that I don't have to be administering individual consults coming out from different vendors for us is an important statement decision factor.
We're using of course the anti malware capabilities essentially.
Not many, like 100. We are using different flavors of Windows, some Linux, Android, and iOS platform.
What we love more about this product is the way this pro gets integrated into the other family of solutions, especially Defender for Identity or the XDR solutions. We think that the market, the customers are full of unattended consults coming out from different vendors and that is a real problem for cybersecurity operations. So we prefer consolidation against having different silo solutions.

Do you think Microsoft Defender for Endpoint delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint's feature set?

Yes

Did Microsoft Defender for Endpoint live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Microsoft Defender for Endpoint again?

Yes

We think that this solution is well suited for the scenarios where customer has no legacy. For example, obsolete operating systems on the endpoint side and the customer is not expecting to get a solution for a server. So I think the lack of where customers doesn't have any restriction for obsolescence, I think it's perfect and if it is not expecting to use it for the servers. So that's real, the perfect scenario for me to recommend it.

Using Microsoft Defender for Endpoint

I think that it's very confusing when you have to understand first why doesn't work on obsolete operating systems or on Windows 10, for example, on Windows XP or Windows7 and other solutions do support them and by the other side when I have to understand why doesn't work on a server it's difficult. So I would give it an 8, not a 10.
