Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
We use it to monitor endpoint devices to make sure that they are staying secure, so it solves the problem of separate security, just keeping our end users protected.
Pros
- Lots of many different things it does well, but most recent passwords sprays. It's identified that for us so that we can see what's going on in our environment in regards to our users and the passwords and getting hit by outside attackers.
Cons
- It's hard to dig into the details of what the actual problem is. You have to go in several layers to get to it. It would be nice if there was an ability to have just a summary created similar to what copilot security does.
- Overall, I think the streamlining of being able to see everything in one pane of glass for our security folks so that they can adjust and figure out what the problem is, quickly.
- Other
Really the important decision factor was the fact that it ties into all the Microsoft ecosystem so that we were able to pull the data from all of our endpoints, which are Microsoft products, so it's really just a holistic product for us and that's what really sold us on it.
We're using the virus protection that it offers. We're using the identity portion of Defender Endpoint.
It's on about 2000 devices. That's our faculty staff devices. The majority of those are Windows, but definitely have Linux servers and Macs and window servers involved in that.
We have not used anything else other than Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. Maybe we've used other antivirus software like Sophos and things like that. They're just not all encompassing and that's why we moved to use this product.
