Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Windows

Microsoft is what we primarily use for our desktops and laptops. Microsoft Windows functions fairly well. Unfortunately, the issues arise after an update usually. Last week Microsoft released a broken update "KB5002653" that caused issues for us for a number of users regarding Excel Add-Ins. Microsoft released a fix for this about a week later. It seems that while Microsoft patches things very often, these patches can break certain things especially if your org uses very specific or customized software.

For this reason, it may be necessary to first apply patches to a sandbox environment in larger or more critical organizations that use specialized applications or functions.

  • Microsoft supports third party patching which can save hours instead of using Windows Update Servers
  • Microsoft provides an easy to learn interface for managing these (SCCM, Active Directory). This can save multiple hours instead of setting up each setting manually.
I would rate the usability very high. Most of the world is familiar with Windows in some way. Most businesses use Windows in some form so even if someone is going from one business to another it can be an easy transition in that sense.

Windows is usually compatible with most applications that can be installed to suit many different usage scenarios and needs for businesses.
Microsoft Windows and macOS are both useful operating systems. There are businesses who much prefer macOS and some that prefer Windows. Businesses that revolve around industries such as game design, art design, graphic design may opt to use macOS due to its optimization with programs that revolve around these topics.

Other businesses that are more focused towards Data or text processing may opt to use Windows due to its familiarity across the world and ease of access.

Yes

Microsoft Windows works great in environments such as Accounting or Business where applications such as Word and graph processors are needed. This is also true on computers where the primary usage will be accessing data using a web browser.

Microsoft Windows may be less recommended in environments where applications such as Adobe Photoshop or Indesign are needed. Microsoft does have their own Surface Studio line but this suffers from the same update issues that Desktops do.
