Overall Satisfaction with Oracle EPM Cloud

Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud is being used by our Finance Team and some select departments to do planning, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting. It's not being used by the whole company, but I estimate about 30%. It's a cloud-based platform which is great in driving new user adoption for teams outside of Finance. It's intended to address forecasting, budgeting, and reporting while serving as single-source-of-truth for all financial data.

Pros

  • Cloud based platform
  • Robust modeling capability
  • Easy to use for a Finance professional familiar with Excel and EPMs in general
  • Great Excel integration! A rarity for EPMs!
  • Good security

Cons

  • Better visualization/charting options.
  • More user-friendly tutorials to get up to speed on the system.
  • Would be great if the tool required less maintenance so the Finance Team could own it outright themselves.

I suggest doubling the time to implement from the initial quote you get from the Sales team. That's always been the case for me for multiple EPMs now. The out-of-the-box functionality of Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud is pretty robust so I appreciate that and it really helped us get the ball rolling quickly.

Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud is one of the more robust and well-rounded EPMs on the market. It comes with robust out-of-the-box functionality which is a great benefit in comparison to its peers. The Excel integration is also top notch which Financial Analysts really appreciate. Cost is a little high and maintenance is a bit heaver than other tools so that is something to consider. The product keeps improving!
Appropriate: complex financial modeling, internal and external financial reporting, budgeting, reporting, and basic charting. Less appropriate: your main/sole visualization tool, decentralized budgeting process.
