Overall Satisfaction with PDQ Inventory
We use PDQ Inventory to keep our systems standardized. We use it to check hardware specs on our machines for things like like solid state drives, and CPU generation, and create an inventory of service tags for warranty renewals. We also use it for monitoring installed software for unauthorized changes, or malicious changes to hosts files and suspicious files on servers.
- File monitoring in specific directories
- WMI scanners
- PC hardware inventory
- Software inventory
- Troubleshooting and Standardization
- Speed of interface when lots of columns are loaded
- UI fit and polish
- Automatic client updates would be nice if the central server gets updated.
- We have nearly eliminated random anomalies that cause tickets to be created by end users and hours spent troubleshooting. We are able to track metrics that keep all our computers in-line.
- We have seen great success keeping our systems secure by creating scanners that read various parts of the operating system for changes such as the systems host file, or unsigned executables in specific directories.
- We have vastly increased the productivity of our IT department by having PDQ inventory launch our remote assistance software with the IP/Hostname already filled into the command to connect to a PC. PDQ is a one stop shop for all our IT needs now.
- We have also created tools that let us pull up PC warranty info by pulling the serial number from PDQ and automatically inserting it into the Dell website for service tag lookup
