Overall Satisfaction with Planview AgilePlace

I have been an avid user of kanban boards in my personal and professional life for many years. Long gone are the days of post it notes purchases, rewriting information repeatedly because I didn't like how my handwriting looked, stickies falling off the wall, and having to relay updates to my leadership at a drop of the hat since they couldn't see what I was working on.

AgilePlace is the tool I use for tracking my projects, all of my training modules (I'm working on my Lean Six Sigma Black Belt), any public speaking engagements I have, and have granted read only access to management so they know what I'm working on at any given time. This allows for me to be in the driver's seat of what I work on while giving my team the visibility to know when I can be plugged in to other initiatives.

The customization and reporting mechanisms of AgilePlace are where I get the most value. I color code everything. Every various project type has an assigned icon, a size of 1/2/3 for priority, a due date, a priority level, and customized tags. I can run a report to see how many cards I have in each lane, my productivity rate, my burnout, and easily search by tags (for example, FY23Q1) to capture what I've worked on in a given quarter. This tool is a game changer.
  • Customizable features including column names, icons, tags, colors of cards
  • Report capabilities
  • Read only access for those who need to see the board but not add to it
  • The red connection shortcut "C" makes me think of a meme or a conspiracy theory board
  • Dark backgrounds do not automatically make the text white in the description field of the card (if I pick dark grey, the text will still be black)
  • Create a report with the ability to view the timeline with both current & completed cards

Do you think Planview AgilePlace delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Planview AgilePlace's feature set?

Yes

Did Planview AgilePlace live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Planview AgilePlace go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Planview AgilePlace again?

Yes

Best: AgilePlace is optimal for teams who have long-term projects they're working towards. The application's functionality thrives when individuals are using parent/child cards, subtasks, etc. This allows a project manager or director level leadership to quickly get a glance of what the status of the project is. Visual cues allow for information to be digestible without being overwhelming.

Least Successful: Teams who work in a customer service role, such as an IT service desk, are not ideal users for this tool. They are already working in an ITSM software for their ticketing queues, we do not want to have the associates duplicate their work by creating an interface from that ticketing system to AgilePlace to create tickets. We attempted this once, but quickly abandoned it.
