Easy for newbies, powerful for professionals.
Overall Satisfaction with Qlik Replicate
Replicate data from on-prem DB2 on z/OS (mainframe) database to S3 and Aurora PostgreSQL databases in AWS cloud.
Pros
- Support for many source and targets.
- Ability to customize replication setup (set locking level with connection string, set the replication key, etc.).
- Straightforward and problem-less installation.
Cons
- Lack of APIs on replicate server to automate and monitor replication. (repctl API interface on Linux replicate server is limited and being deprecated, forcing customers to use AEM server to control replicate box)
- AEM server (web interface) seems laggy, nonresponsive, slow, does not refresh. Needs to be more mature.
- Task scheduler is only available on replicate server web console. AEM should have the ability to set schedules.
- DB2 z/OS connector was less expensive than Informatica.
- Included connector for AWS cloud services. (Informatica required a license, add-on).
- Easier to maintain. Column addition at the source replicated to targets automatically. (DDL replication).
Attunity: Easy interface, relatively easy monitoring, zos support, budget friendly.
we choose Attunity.
At the same time we use AWS DMS for DB2, sqlserver -> aws services replications (cheaper). However because AWS DMS does not support db2 zos we use Attunity for db2 zos mainframe replication.
