Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform

Automating tasks, repetitive tasks, making them easier, automating processes and procedures for other teams. They make requests, we write the automation and go from there.

Pros

  • I like we have a set for provisioning. It manages requests from an end user through the lifecycle of building a system up through installation and ready for use of the system for the end users. That's one of the main things that I like it for it.

Cons

  • Log tracking and job detailed tracking. One of the main things I've noticed is relationships between job and attempted reruns of jobs. There is no visual relationship between them. Something like that would be great.
  • Definitely a positive impact. Just reducing the churn of manual tasks, making it automated, simpler to do, eliminating the low hanging fruit from administrative tasks.
Because it does require a learning curve. I can't just give it to somebody and expect them to know it.

It's very well suited for declarative setups. If I need a setup done a certain way, it's very good at that and I believe it's by design lacks a lot of flexibility or input and choices being made, things like that. But I think that's the nature of the beast, but it's something that I'm asked to do regularly.
