Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform

Ansible is currently used as a development and test tool to deploy any post installation configurations and fixes. If at any time during a new test deployment and we find issues, we use Ansible to push out changes to all the systems at once. Some of the changes include configuration updates or firewall changes.

Pros

  • Provide friendly GUI for running playbooks
  • Allow secure storage of credentials
  • Automated deployment multiple systems simultaneously

Cons

  • There is no easy method to rearrange templates in a workflow
  • Being able to mask vars containing sensitive information
  • Allow survey variables to be used in extra vars
  • Automate fixes faster during development
While it does provide the automation for quickly pushing out the required fixes, there are some things that may improve the product, mainly the security. Right now there is no method for masking sensitive information without completely removing logging from the output.

Do you think Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform's feature set?

Yes

Did Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform again?

Yes

When we push a new deployment to the entire system and a missing firewall rules is preventing communication between the applications, in this scenario the fastest solution would be to use the already predefined job template for updating the firewall to push out the changes to all the applications. If the new deployment has a configuration that only affect one of the applications, then the easier solution would be to log into that specific application and made the change.
