Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

I use RHEL for AI-RAN proof of concept testing in the T-mobile labs. RHEL provides the OS for my kubernetes CPU/GPU cloud RAN. The problem is with the GPU kubernetes which is difficult than the CPU kubernetes and may need more work to orchestrate these two layers for the 5G RAN cell sites.

Pros

  • easy to install
  • many 5G SW vendors support RHEL
  • we're partner with Red Hat so the support is incredible

Cons

  • work with NVIDIA GPU
  • how to collaborate orchestration with GPU
  • work with Nvidia partner such as Aarna
  • we use Red Hat for vDU and vCU orchestrations
  • we want to use Red Hat for GPU orchestration
  • we want to be able to change the GPU kernel with orchestration feedback
It's easy to use and support is always there when we need it. Particularly, the reply is prompt and professional.

Did implementation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) again?

Yes

RHEL is appropriate as the OS for the CaaS layer in the 5G RAN space, but now AI-RAN requires collaboration with Nvidia Aerial CUDA platform so it needs to be able to work with GPU orchestration either in one cluster or a layer on top of the GPU layer .... work is in progress in this area.
