Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

It is the only OS we use. We use it to manage a fleet of distributed servers. Business problems are dictated by government requirements for security . Scope is 500+ systems. We use Ansible, satellite, IDM and other red hat tools to maintain compliance with the provided requirements. Red Hat allows us to deploy consistent images across the fleet.

Pros

  • Easy User management through IDM
  • Satellite managing patch cycles
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) learning portal.

Cons

  • Disconnected functionality on more tools
  • Positive. Ensures security.
  • Required by govt basically

When multiple systems need updating I can deploy Ansible playbooks across the fleet to ensure a stable baseline set by govt requirements. Using playbooks I can fix issues across multiple racks in real time as they re reported.
