Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

We use this platform to run and operate our crown jewel of our organization. It has proven to be reliable and highly available time after time. Supported by our partners Red Hat we keep our environment secure and sustainable. If you are looking for something to run your most important applications on look into porting it over to Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Pros

  • Easy installation
  • Robust
  • Great uptime
  • CVE patching very easy

Cons

  • Stop trying to force us to use the UI for configuration
  • Do not follow what suse did
  • Have more hooks into automation
  • When it comes support ability 10 windows admins to 1 is shocking. With the Linux admin also knowing windows adminstration.
Very easy to use if you like being challenged mentally from time to time.
Suse is too complicated once they trapped you into using the UI for configuration.

It’s great for application that require high availability. Easy to mange assuming your are using cli and easy to adapt or learn if you are up the challenge. Once you have the entire suite of tools installed in the environment it’s very easy to mange and operate. Where less appropriate? When you have 10 windows admins to 1 in your organization.
