Overall Satisfaction with Sage Accounting

I use Sage 50 in other jobs that I have and really like using it. The Sage Accounting is not too bad just a little harder to find some things I am looking for. Like a listing of the outstanding cheques.
The one thing I really do not like is Sage Payroll. It is not user friendly at all.
The only good thing about it is that I can work on it from Home or anywhere else I may be.

Pros

  • You can clearly see a listing of cheques that have been entered but not paid
  • Reconciling the bank statement is fairly easy
  • Most reports are easily available

Cons

  • Sage Payroll is very unfriendly to work with. No room for errors. Too difficult or impossible to correct
  • Even though Employees need to be terminated by the administrator, it would be helpful if there was an area in the employees file to put the last day worked, last pay period and reason for leaving.
  • Sage Accounting/Payroll and taken up an extreme amount of time trying to convert my knowledge from Sage 50 to using Sage Cloud
  • I do like the way I can access Sage Cloud remotely.
I have spent way too much of my personal time looking at utube videos trying to understand how to do things. The Sage Help has not been of help in most circumstances. I have had to wait a day to get an answer from them and in the end not getting anywhere.
I use Sage 50 at numerous jobs and find it very user friendly and easy to use.
The payroll through Sage 50 is very easy to manage and correct if errors are made.

I would tell them that Sage Accounting in itself is ok but if they need the payroll I would advise against it. It is not user friendly only good aspect is that you can use it remotely.
Sage Accounting is fairly good and reports can be run off easily enough.

Using Sage Accounting

1 - I am the bookkeeper and complete all the necessary bookwork through Sage Accounting/Payroll
1 - I have no special skills just my knowledge that I have gained through working with Sage 50.

It will be renewed as it is the Charity that I work for that has purchased it. If it was up to me, I would not renew. Sage 50 if a ot more user friendly.
