Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using SAP Business Technology Platform for multiple purposes:
- developing a new custom application using Business Application Studio
- enabling Global launchpad using the workzone earlier it called Launchpad service.
- We are using SAP Cloud Identity Governance solution to enable governance for cloud applications. We are using Privilege Access
Management capability to handle emergency / critical access. Also we are enabling Access risk management.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Give the platform to run the SaaS application delivered by SAP
Using Business Application Studio, we can develop a custom application via SAP Business Technology Platform extension
Enable the platform capability to run the application on SAP Business Technology Platform

Cons

Standard role can be more granular
Role description could be more descriptive so it can help to understand easily
Easily accessible but it could be better if it provide multi layer authentication

Return on Investment

Negative - can not store audit log more than 90 days
Positive - really scalable

Usability

I gave this rating because we are using SAP Business Technology Platform as a platform for cloud applications. It is helping us shaping our digital product capacity in many ways.
We are different applications like BAS to design the custom application. CPI to enable the integration between applications including non SAP applications.
IAG is helping to enable governance for cloud applications.

Support Rating

It is good to have support from the team but at the same time, we would like to do it on our side. We are also familiar with the fact is that SAP Business Technology Platform is a cloud platform and most of things are managed by SAP. For any issue, we had to raise a ticket to support using the support portal. Depend on priority we get the support.

SAP BTP Use Cases

I have seen but not used the use cases - We have seen so many use cases and it is planned to implement in our organisation.
We are working on enabling the functionality of a work zone that will help to enable the central launchpad and make an entry point for each apps in one place.
We are about to use the build apps functionality.

Alternatives Considered

We don't use any other cloud platform. SAP Business Technology Platform is helping us shape our cloud environment application. There are so many services that help to use in our organisation and enabling those functions is helping us.

SAP Business Technology Platform offers to run the cloud application without worries about availability and accessibility.
This is helping us to enable the services that are really suited for us. For example, We have Cloud Identity Services that offer the capability to manage identity directory and also Identity provisioning functionality.
Both functionalities helped us to manage the SSO and also enabled the auto-provisioning.
