Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Primarily used for prototyping before engaging with customers and also host our custom CRM solution developed in Cloud Application Programming Model and UI5.

Primary services we use on SAP Business Technology Platform for our prototypes and internal services are WorkZone, Build Process Automation, Auto Scaler, Connectivity Services, Postgresql and XSUAA. Cloud Foundry is our primary runtime.

Return on Investment

Negative> Downtime in EU10 region for XSUAA/Identity services at random intervals
Positive> Runtimes are easily manageable through Cloud Foundry, removing custom development overhead

Usability

A lot of information is still fairly hidden and not easily found. One of the primary factors here is the cost of a certain environment, and projections of upcoming costs.

While this is something that is covered by open source solutions provided by SAP, it is annoying that this is not integrated into the platform.

Extension of existing SAP products, e.g. SuccessFactors, S/4 HANA, and Concur.

Development of custom business processes that fits the target business.

Custom product development delivered through SaaS, although this is not 100% perfect as of yet. Primary example being that you're bound to one specific physical location for your hyperscaler even though they are within the same region and the fact that SaaS persistency is only available through HANA databases and not Postgresql (even though this would allow smaller solutions to thrive.)

Application logging is currently very subpar or overpriced.
