Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business Technology Platform

We have been using SAP Business Technology Platform for around 7 years for FIORI development. We are are just starting to build it for wider user. We recently created a SAP Business Technology Platform application for ECC quality control reports and are moving our PI/PO system to integration suite. We have several projects lined up for use in SAP Business Technology Platform in the near future.

Pros

  • The OpenID connection configuration to CIS is seamless
  • Easy to maintain user accounts
  • It has many useful subscriptions to choose from

Cons

  • Online resources are lacking
  • Where to get information from is also a challenge
  • I wish there was easier to access and better logging
  • Positive - The Quality Control SAP Business Technology Platform application helps us greatly in documenting onsite QA issues. Before the process was manual and took much more time.
  • Negative - the amount of time trying to find the correct SAP Business Technology Platform documentation
  • Positive - Less reliance on outside vendors for the technology needed to do business.
With proper training the SAP Business Technology Platform can be a powerful tool for building applications and creating automations.
The biggest problem we ran into was communication between SAP Business Technology Platform and onsite resources. Unfortunately our SAP Business Technology Platform and Cloud systems are under different customer numbers. I constantly had to open tickets under each customer number because I was unsure of where the issue lied. And having to create a dummy ticket for our ECC systems to open the ECC connections for another ticket under the Cloud customer is a pain.

Would you buy SAP Business Technology Platform again?

Yes

It suits use well with anything we want to do with SAP. Anything outside of SAP would be a challenge. For example our Scan guns. We are unable to create communication to the vendor application due to technology differences. But with SAP Business Technology Platform it may take some tooling around but it will work.
