Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business Technology Platform

Extending older SAP system ECC 6. Creating new applications using SAP Fiori and UI5 technology. Alot of newer requirements are being develop this way in a way to prepare for S4 migration later on down the track. We have implemented the launch pad having the one place for business users to launch and interact with new applications.

Pros

  • Up to date development environment, which can be used via any browser anywhere.
  • Unified interface
  • Management and deployment of applications.

Cons

  • Updates/status report/monitoring on when applications will be reaching EOL for the UI5 version the application has deployed built on.
  • Built in analytics on individual html5 application usage, how many interactions / usage is this application getting ?
  • Improved integration into single applications across multiple data sources / api / interfaces.
  • Improved onboarding, faster training for new users to use simplified/unified applications, due to better ui and flow eg Fiori Elements.
  • Faster capturing of data, eg processing quotes in a CX environment.
Multiple applications built to combine information from various data sources to give an overall view of data. This helps in processing new request faster, allowing for more orders to be created without all the previous manual labor.

Well suited to engaging users through good UI design and simplify interactions with cut down purpose fit applications. Removing a lot of the bulk from SAP transactional applications, reserved for power users.

Using SAP Business Technology Platform

500 - Various business functions are represented. Whole of company make use of applications custom applications like org charts. Specifically, areas like Sales and distribution make use of pricing and quoting features with integration into sales force for customer experience. Ability to display tracking information, sales order status from creation through to delivery to customer. Finance applications to manage invoice payment issues. Warehousing various dashboards, delivery cancellation.
5 - This consists of 3 developers 2 from an ECC background. All three writing full stack applications when needed. Basis and one security. Of all these roles BTP is not fulltime capacity, so we are able to leverage the best bits of BT quickly while still working with an older ECC system.
