Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business Technology Platform
Integrating non-SAP products with systems and applications across the SAP ecosystem has always been challenging. The BTP platform, with its "Integration Suite" application, enables us to integrate systems that do not understand SAP data structures to communicate with our SAP systems. The Integration Suite is easy to use for the IT department and offers a well-documented integration scenario, making it easy for all IT staff to manage those integrations. In addition, the BTP cloud application offering is suitable for all new applications built in a cloud-native environment and leverages SAP's long years of enterprise knowledge.
Pros
- Cloud-native provider for applications.
- transparent use of needed applications without the need to take a deep dive into thousands of sites of documentation.
- Scaling architecture (because of the use of hyperscale's such as AWS, GCP, MS Azure).
Cons
- Documentation is sometimes out-of-date due to the rapid update cycles of applications.
- Some used scenarios for application development are "SAP old-school" and not the standard implementation approach in the "non-SAP" world.
- Some usage metrics are not well-described in SAP Discovery Center and are hard to understand in the usage analytics.
- Improved integration and monitoring of those integrations.
- Better usage of standard SAP integration and build scenarios because of the cloud-first development on the SAP side.
- Time-to-market for cloud applications and services is much lower than for on-premises services.
