Overall Satisfaction with Simcenter STAR-CCM+

We use Simcenter STAR-CCM+ to perform CFD analyses on a variety of topics mostly within the automotive industry but also in other sectors of industrial research. The software allows us to extract all the important performance indicators like pressure drop, heat transfer coefficient, noise level, transient behavior, etc.
  • CAD manipulation and repair.
  • Conjugated Heat Transfer.
  • Automated Meshing.
  • Design of Experiments.
  • CFD modelling in general.
  • Mode advanced user coding.
  • More extended use of GPUs.
  • Not needing a dedicated CAD modeling software is beneficial to the overall business economics.
  • The wide variety of physics phenomena approachable with Simcenter STAR-CCM+ allows for sector diversification.

Very well suited for multiphase flows, conjugate heat transfer, and ICE simulations. Also, the advanced 3D-CAD modeling features allow us to not need a dedicated CAD modeling software (for ordinary tasks). Somewhat less optimized for advanced turbomachinery modeling with respect to competition. The GPU acceleration feature is interesting but it needs to be compatible with more physics models and preferably not require an additional license.
