Overall Satisfaction with Simcenter STAR-CCM+
Those old guys of CD-adapco knew me by name. I have been using it for more than a decade and I was like the branding police when people fail to name it properly (StarCCM+, star-CCM, etc). I have used it for a wide variety of problems in the majority of my CFD career. I had a love & hate relationship with this code as it messed up my career after having a glorious career for a decade.
- If you get your knobs well in the case setup, It is reasonably accurate to compare with any test data.
- It is good for repetitive workflows where you can greatly benefit from automation in the code.
- Single Integrated Platform can save your ass to move back and forth between multiple codes.
- Coupled solver is a whole mess with a whole lot of bandwagon of tuning parameters to get what you are looking for.
- The way AMR is implemented seems to be too complicated. Make it simple.
- For Buddha's sake, implement a Frequency based solver.
- Witnessed the shortened cycles for setting up simulations at the user's place where I have supported.
