Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM)

We are using IPAM for our department. It is used to manage our corporate network IP allocation.
  • IPAM database is highly customizable
  • It could be integrated with DNS and DHCP for FQDN and user identity cross-rerefence
  • It is lightweight (Solarwinds overall is clunky though)
  • GUI is hard to navigate, limited customization.
  • No search function???
  • No audit ability? Who deleted/added what?
  • No direct report function (I have to pull directly from SQL database)
  • Need a way to resort items (ascend/descend based on alphabet, IP.... etc)
  • It saves us about 10 hours per month for managing IP compares to non-database method like Excel.
  • I pull IPAM database to cross-check in realtime routing change, which would save us minutes in case of outage. It can be translated to 5 minutes of 20 incidents per year, maybe around 15000 x 5 x 60 x 20 minutes or around 1000 days of productivity in our organization.
Frankly, I didn't have a choice when it came to IPAM. I tried Netbox and it beats Solarwinds IPAM in almost every aspect.
SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (npm), SolarWinds Network Configuration Manager (NCM), SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (npm)
IPAM comes with Solarwinds, so we used it. It offers integrity to single pane of glass and unified role-based-access-control. Other than that, it would lose to most of the free IPAM solutions out there.
