Overall Satisfaction with Spotfire
Spotfire is an extremely versatile visual analytics tool which utilizes a no-code, point and click approach to data science based solutions. In my organization, we primarily use Spotfire as a means to visually represent and analyze test data from production or prototype parts. This could be to quickly identify outliers or to apply various statistical methodology such as capability analysis. Though with the flexibility of the tool, we also use it as a means to improving outdated web based project tracking tools.
Pros
- Easy to use, no-code, point and click UI
- Great visual analysis tool for bulk data sets
- Flexible use-case with quick embedded open-source integration
- Create dashboards that stand the test of time
Cons
- Easier debugging for slow to load tables/analytic dashboards
- Improved how-to organization and detail from Tibco Spotfire's website
- Allowing the option for a prototyping mode which will only load small percentage of data for quicker load times
- Spotfire has consolidated the functionality of several older tools into one system
- With Spotfire's flexible nature, any data analyst is capable of altering/updating or creating new tools from scratch allowing for open, creative thinking - further removing the need for different tools
- With it's quick visual analysis with on-demand data, production or prototype issues can be quickly identified and reviewed allowing for quick containment
- JMP Pro, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and Microsoft Excel
Spotfire has an extremely large and dynamic range of visual analysis tools that can be catered for most issues or projects to create a custom analytics dashboard when compared to other tools I've used. It's multitude of available database connections allow for most organizations to use the tool without too much additional IT work.
