Overall Satisfaction with StarWind Virtual SAN
StarWind VSAN software allows us to build a fairly inexpensive two-node cluster, and provide a fault-tolerant solution to our users. The cluster supports the entire organization, which operates on a 24/7 365 days basis. With a limited budget for IT, we were able to provide a solution utilizing local storage on the cluster nodes instead of an external SAN.
Pros
- Being able to work with any storage configuration on the nodes.
- It keeps everything in perfect sync.
- It integrates well with the Microsoft Hyper-V and Cluster technologies.
Cons
- We haven't come across any problems so far.
- Less downtime due to scheduled software updates.
- Reliable! We have not had any failures due to the StarWind Virtual SAN software.
Starwind Virtual SAN was more flexible, and allowed us to configure the local storage as required. The Storage Spaces Direct solution had a certain storage hierarchy that needed to be followed for it to function, which would have been more expensive in the end.
