Overall Satisfaction with StarWind Virtual SAN

As an IT consulting company, we needed to find a replacement for the HP StoreVirtual VSA product for 2-node hyper-converged solutions. After demos and deployments of several products like HPE's StorMagic (which is their direct replacement product) and other 3rd party vSAN software like Open-E, one of our engineers deployed Starwind Virtual SAN at a client. He immediately reached out to me and several other engineers about the fantastic function and support of the product, and that StarWind Virtual SAN should be our go-to for future deployments. After seeing the product and experiencing the top-notch support we agreed that this will be the product of our solution to HP StoreVirtual moving forward.

  • More deployments with web UI management consoles instead of the downloaded programs.
  • Standardized pricing according to the storage volume deployed.
  • There really isn't anything else, it's a great product!
  • Major positive cost savings over purchasing physical SANs
  • Positive impact allowing very fast storage results
  • Positive cost savings over having to purchase 10gbe or faster switches to handle the synchronizations
I have had a no better experience with any vendor support for any product. StarWind Virtual SAN has very good communication practices before, during, and after deployment to make sure you are satisfied and the product functions as expected or better. The support makes this the main reason why I would recommend this product and the main reason why we stay with this product over others.
The combination of overall cost and quality of support makes StarWind Virtual SAN stand out as our product of choice. We have not come across any other product that is inexpensive enough to be affordable for SMB, enough support that makes you feel supremely confident of the deployment, and performance that rivals everything else.

This product is well-suited to replace the now end-of-life HP StoreVirtual product. Deployments consisting of SSD utilize the fastest direct connections between hosts in order to synchronize. It will make use of a 100GBe QSFP28 port if they exist on the hosts to perform the synchronization. Making use of the internal RAID controller instead of buying redundant SAN hardware greatly reduces the cost of a deployment of this type, which means more deployments are possible in the SMB space for companies that may not have a very high IT budget.
