Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use StarWind vSAN as a High Availability, redundant and fail-safe solution! Previously we had multiple servers running multiple VM's, but if a server went down, restarted, failed to boot after a restart, we were left with mulitple servers offline and end users putting in tickets! With StarWind vSAN, we now have a three node cluster giving us fault tolerance, the ability to move machines around and have shared storage but without the single failure point of a SAN.

RoI has been immense!
The failure of one or two nodes (rare) still allows the company to work!

Support Rating

One thing in my reviews or mentioning's of StarWind vSAN is that support is really what pointing me in this direction! Having a engineer assist in bringing a PoC into your environment, ensuring everything was running and giving you some hints and pointers was extremely valuable! Working with the same engineer throughout the resolution of a issue, even if over multiple days is another key piece in quick resolution! All this included with our licensing with the ability to add even further support if needed 24/7/365 OR even adding complete monitoring!

Alternatives Considered

Dell EMC VxRail and VMware vSAN

It came down to two things! First a solution that would fit our budget AND having top notch support handling install/implementation and resolution of issues!

Companies looking for a two or more node solution providing HA, scalability and teamed with great support should look into StarWind Virtual SAN (especially if budget is constraining and you do not mind looking at other than MS or VMWare offerings!) You eliminate the need for a expensive SAN bottleneck and use onboard storage per node that is synchronized with all nodes providing immediate failover with no data loss!
