Overall Satisfaction with Study Island
Study Island is used within the intermediate grades, students in grades 3-6, within our district. As a former 5th grade teacher, this program allows students to work and review skills independently while teachers can monitor progress, data, and guide their practice with assigned content. The games draw students in quickly.
Pros
- Fun user-friendly format.
- Engaging games for students.
- Easy to navigate for all teachers, regardless of their familiarity with computers.
Cons
- Cost per student can be a deal-breaker for teachers who cannot afford a subscription.
- Paid features are necessary to get the full value of the site.
- Student logins can be cumbersome for younger students to remember.
- Students have another resource to review a wide variety of content.
- Student choice drives interest in pursuing review.
- Some teachers choose not to continue using this program due to the cost of student/class subscriptions.
