Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Spotfire is used instead of Excel by most users but then a few develop it into almost an application. It is used widely in the org.

Pros and Cons

Data integration with teh vast number of data sources.
Fast data rendering - no delay in data loading.
API for customization.

API is not well documented.
Licensing fees too high.
Client is heavy on the desktop hardware.

The API, support for JavaScript, HTML, and control of Web Player. All of these are essential to provide visuals to clients. Other software requires special treatments that Spotfire can achieve right out of the box.

In-Person Training

The training was for general purposes. And since it is so expensive I suppose organizations cannot take advantage of different training programs. Profit > User Base Stability.

Online Training

Though the questions are answered, the period of time one can ask a question after the training is brief. In real life scenarios take time to develop, so technical challenges tend to lurk around long after the training session expires. The content of the training session is generic so make it useful, I would like more time for Q&A.

Ease of Spotfire Training

No it was no easy to learn online, not because I am not the [one] to self-learn but because their content is repeated and their terminology is shaky. There is a great, great need for streamlining.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is better than Tableau because of the API and the array of visuals it can support. Also the capability of using JavaScript is a plus. These capabilities allow companies to provide SAAS based on Spotfire.

Spotfire is the leader in visualization game unless you have a Web Development Team
