Overall Satisfaction with Spotfire

We used Spotfire for our analytics department. It is a very helpful tool for visualizing data. It helps the organizations to understand their data patterns and take corrective actions to improve their outcomes.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Fast data retrieval
  • Very stable
  • Easy to colloborate with other users

Cons

  • Does not understand complex SQL queries
  • Can not write stored procedures
  • No email bursting option in desktop version
It was my organization's decision.
It is very easy to learn. The data can be transformed easily. The only hurdle I see is the meta data model between the SQL server and Spotfire. If we connect data from Spotfire to SQL server it lowers the sql server performance. Hence Spotfire created information tools which acts as a interface between Spotfire and SQL. The problem is every time the SQL data is refreshed or changed the information links are broken.

TIBCO Cloud Capabilities

We were facing difficulty in bulding the information link and columns every time when there is a schema change in SQL. We were later advised by the Spotfire team to create the SQL tables into stored procedures and then use them while creating IL's and columns. It helped us to save a lot of time.
