Overall Satisfaction with Spotfire

Spotfire is being used to analyze data sets. The graphs and tables created in Spotfire are then used to improve the efficiency of our drilling rigs and the crews running them.

Pros

  • Compare a data set using multiple variables.
  • Ease of use much better than other, similar products.
  • Limiting and selecting specific data sets or variable types is very simple.

Cons

  • While it is very easy to understand the basics, some advanced options are difficult.
  • Limited on the amount of ways you can compare different data points.
  • Cannot bring two or more data sets into a single visualization easily.
It is simple to upload data into Spotfire and select the way you want Spotfire to "view" the data. The program usually has the correct data type already selected. The only problem I have run into is when I have tried to compare two or more data sets within one visualization. The manipulation options become very limited then, which is understandable.
I have only shared Spotfire visualizations a couple times with other Spotfire users, because not many of my peers have the software. But when I did share, it was very simple. It is also very simple to convert a visualization to a PDF or into a PowerPoint. I have done both of these many times.
Spotfire is a much better and easier tool to use for looking at data and creating easy to use charts and graphs.
Spotfire is well suited for comparing trends and how efficient something is. It is very easy to manipulate the data inside a visualization to find what you are looking for.

Using Spotfire

I haven’t used the mapping feature of Spotfire.
