Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Unique Learning System and my district as our primary curriculum for students on an alternative graduation plan. the students love the interactive lessons as well as the visual supports that are embedded. The teachers love the real time, data and progress monitor. as an administrator of the system I love the reports. There are no specific business problems that I see as a relates to my district. my only suggestions relate to having even more.

All-in-one Curriculum

I’m no longer in the classroom, however from a district standpoint, all of these resources really aid with teachers who provide instruction for the students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. This is really difficult group of students that require a lot of support with all of these features in one place, it helps the student stay organized and focus on the specific objective at hand

User Impact

There are many stories in which the Unique Learning System has significantly impacted the classroom. One in particular would be students who may not have any words at the beginning of the school year. They can now select a choice of three, and their voice is shared through the voice output feature provided in the lesson. This curriculum provides that voice that previously was silent and can now be shared with visual support and voice output.

Usability

I’ve been using Unique Learning System for about 12 1/2 years. And I feel like I am very well-versed and all of the different features. I will say it did take me time to get to this comfortability level. However, if you aren’t afraid to explore and learn, then it will be very easy for you to Figure out

Alternatives Considered

I have previously used other visual support software. Some required a subscription through a CD, and it wasn’t very seamless. I like that. The visuals are also used in the lessons, which helps the students generalize those skills and supports their communication efforts. with this consistency, students are able to learn grade level vocabulary, as well as practice every day language in order to achieve and make progress

One scenario where I have found the Unique Learning System to be particularly effective is in providing lessons for students with cognitive impairments and significant speech difficulties. These students require more intense and specialized instruction, and this curriculum offers the support they need while targeting the specific skills they should focus on, in alignment with the state curriculum.

However, students who are preparing to transition to resource classes may not benefit as much from this curriculum. Additionally, some of the assessments may not align well with the lessons, and they may not adequately address the targeted skills necessary for transitioning into a less restrictive environment.
