Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365
Put simply we use it to back up our O365 environment. It's simple, effective, and does what we need it to do without hassles. When we have a need for a restore or to look at data, it's simple and easy to use. That's important given our size and the lack of staff. We need tools that are easy to use and don't take a ton of time to figure out.
Pros
- Backups
- Restores
- Ease of use
- Visibility of data
Cons
- Some menu's / interfaces can be a bit confusing
- Initial configuration can be taxing depending on your environment
- Organization of the interface could be more streamlined
- We don't worry about backups
- We don't worry if our data is protected
- We don't need to maintain a complex system
When migrating data from internally hosted servers to O365, we knew we needed some kind of cloud-based backup system as we didn't want to round trip data back to internal servers. Our BCP regulates the frequency of needed backups and we wanted a simple automated solution. Veeam offered exactly what we were looking for to meet these needs. We evaluated several cloud-based services and on-prem solutions, and Veeam was the best for what we needed.
We have not yet had a need for wholesale restores of mailboxes, but we have had needs to go in and search for specific data; Veeam has allowed us to meet that need.
We typically restore to a PST file as that's easiest for our users to then mine through the data and find what they were looking for.
Simplicity and ease of use. Honestly, that's the biggest selling point of this software - its ease of use to allow us to not have to read a manual or figure it out every time we need to do something.
