Protect against storms in the "cloud" with Veeam's Backup for Microsoft 365

I use Backup for M365 to backup my Office 365 GCC High environment which includes Exchange, OneDrive, and Sharepoint. This was my company's first move to the cloud for anything and I was in the need for a cloud backup solution. I was surprised how simple the installation and start up was.

We moved to Office 365 GCC High to comply with the new NIST/CMMC/DFARS regulations last March. We found out we needed Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 upon discovering that Microsoft does not backup for you and Veeam B&R couldn't do it. Having data in the cloud and not backed up locally is not an option.

I am very lucky to report I have not had an incident that required us to recover from backup. (Knock on wood!)

I did need to pull some emails from an employee's mailbox that abruptly left the company. Being able to compile the emails and export them to a .pst file was helpful, easy and quick. I was able to fulfill the request and get back to my normal duties quickly.

Backing up our email is the biggest use I have for this. I love the recovery options, whether it's recovering the whole organization or just a user's mailbox or a couple of emails in a mailbox, you can do it all! The ability to restore outside of Microsoft 365 is also valuable for reviewing emails or looking back through an email chain to see what happened when issues come up.
