Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We use Veeam Data Platform to backup our vm's and physical servers. When then push the backups to cloud storage.

Pros

  • Clear history
  • easy job setup
  • simple visual gui

Cons

  • Last update broke our backup processes for two weeks. Need to vet updates better before pushing.
  • Tutorial would be nice.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • NAS filers
  • In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
  • Failover or recovery scripts/plans for orchestrated recovery

About 12. This is more, but this may be due to migrating from older server OS.
  • This put all of our backups in a single location. Meaning we have different backup solutions for different servers. Now everything is controlled by a single system.
Change of management realized that the a centralized backup system was needed. Moving from multiple backup systems to a single environment has improved our reliability.
We benefited by not housing all f our backups in a single location. With the cloud backups we are more prepared for a disaster.

Yes

Veeam Data Platform backups our VM's with few issues. The only issues that we mainly have is when a backup is quite large and it seems to be moving slow.
