Veeam Data Platform from Zero to Full Backup
Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
We use Veeam Data Platform daily, always keeping the platform updated and in compliance with the security guidelines necessary for the proper functioning of the tool. We mitigated problems we had with backups that were not previously performed and managed to extend this data security to all our servers, Windows and Linux. We maintain a daily routine of incremental backups to safeguard day-to-day data, and on weekends we have full backups to safeguard the new data from the entire work week.We are always attentive to any new security releases that Veeam makes available and we try to keep the environment as secure as possible, so as not to suffer from unwanted surprises in our environment, considering that we have already restored several critical backups using the tool.

Initially, another team was responsible for operating the Veeam Data Platform. Unfortunately, they didn't leave us any documentation to support our knowledge of the environment. So, the new team is mapping the tool across the entire environment where Veeam operates, mapping servers that no longer exist, and adding new servers to the Veeam platform. It's been hard work, but the team has been working very hard.
- Cost reduction for a potential ransomware attack.
- Vision for senior management
- scope of workloads beyond IT
As mentioned before, we had no backup policy, no options for backing up our servers, and consequently, our data was constantly being lost. We lived with the uncertainty of whether we would be able to maintain our organization's sensitive data. After acquiring Veeam Data Platform, I believe we were able to mitigate this problem and focus on continuously improving the tool for better adaptation to our environment.
Because we didn't have a backup policy before, we were helpless if, for example, a power outage occurred; we would lose the data. Therefore, we benefited greatly from the implementation of the tool, creating backup policies, consolidating the protection of this stored data, and managing to deliver what was promised to the backup and data administration team.
We haven't been able to implement this yet because, as mentioned before, the previous team didn't leave us any documentation about everything that was done. We have several NAS devices in the environment, but the integration doesn't exist. There's also the issue of the company's NAS devices being very old, which possibly prevented the integration of the tools.

We didn't get to use the tool ourselves, but we studied it. We spent three days with the team studying, we had several presentations from the tool's representatives, but it seemed very confusing, a lot of information and little action. It wasn't what we were looking for. We also spoke with the contract manager, and he informed us that the tool was too expensive for what it seemed to be delivering, so we ultimately opted for Veeam.
