Excellent featureset at a premium
Overall Satisfaction with Yamdu
We used Yamdu to ingest scripts, build shot lists, schedules, and production plans. We typically used it with short films and music videos, though occasionally used it for corporate video work.
A big problem that Yamdu addressed was having flexible and powerful shot listing and scheduling options. I have used shot list/scheduling applications in the past, but Yamdu had the most extensive set of options and exports available, and adjusting the schedule was always easy. It was particularly useful for me when it came to estimating shoot length and planning out our days.

Pros
- Build a shot list from a script
- Build and maintain a schedule from the shot list
- Inventory all assets (props, actors/characters, sets, etc.)
- Work with a team
Cons
- The interface can be a little overwhelming sometimes, since there are so many options available
- I wish there was true mobile support so the app could be used during production
- The cost was ultimately too high for me--I wish there was another, more affordable tier for smaller production houses
- We never really got a chance to analyze this. It was certainly helpful in the preproduction/planning side
- StudioBinder and Celtx
At the time, there really wasn't anything else like Yamdu. Especially as, in Celtx's case, at that time they weren't doing Excel/CSV exports of shot lists in the A/V format, something we required for what we were shooting. I understand that StudioBinder has increased its featureset the past few years, but Yamdu always felt like the most robust option and more familiar with the film/tv world.
