Read full review AppOptics is good for small to medium-sized organizations with less than 150 servers or less than 40 services to monitor. It performs well for this use case where people need to get an overview of application performance, and 95%ile data is okay. Somewhere every data point and every record is critical; it should be avoided.
Read full review Pros Easy to login with SSO Easy to review the test runs over the last hour or specific time period Easy to check the results of any Catchpoint test that ran. This helps to understand why the test results may or may not be what is expected I can't wait for the new Symphony UI to be completed because it is so much richer that the previous UI Read full review Request tracing with code profiling. Automated alerting on latency and response codes for each API. Low resource overhead while collecting data from our application servers. Highly performant dashboard that enables us to make progress rapidly. Very resilient. We have not seen a downtime in their service in the entire year that we have used them. Identify database and cache requests that are taking longer than expected Read full review Cons Script recording could be more stable. Should be as smooth as chrome developer recording. Needs a way to modularize the code so we don't have to repair in broad sections when it breaks because of some unplanned code change on our end. How about a tutorial on selenium as relates to Catchpoint. Some of the functions could have better descriptions. Read full review The only thing that I would add is the possibility to display every single query our servers receive to eventually analyze them and query through them. We could also generate nice visualizations from that. Right now I believe we can only see averages. Read full review Usability It's hard to find the functionalities that I am looking for in the application. Even if I did something in the past, after a time I have to re-learn again where the functionalities are. This is a powerful tool, but not user-friendly. Texts in the buttons and menus are not always meaningful or easily comprehensible.
Read full review As far a usability is concerned for AppOptics, it is just as matter of few minutes away even if you start from scratch, as all you need to do is register on the site and you will get the URL and password. And after this all you have to do is follow the instruction, as per the configuration wizard (tool tip) within the console for various technology such as SQL, IIS, .NET
Read full review Support Rating Catchpoint's customer support has been very impressive. They are always available when we needed help with setting up any tests that may also include help with scripting. They held an in-person workshop in our office to help train our internal resources with the scripting, dashboards, and metrics.
Read full review Solarwinds AppOptics is rated as 9 out of 10 and the reason is there are still few areas where AppOptics needs to improve such as Service Now Integration, GCP Cloud Support, Better Dashboard visualization for application transactions flow. Other than these feature everything is there in AppOptics and that's a reason given 9 points out of 10.
Read full review Implementation Rating very easy to implement as the product is user-friendly
Read full review Alternatives Considered Primary reason we went with Catchpoint is that they offered us actual backbone testing locations. All the other features like a filmstrip and traceroutes have been very beneficial as well and were not available in the competitors' solutions.
Read full review What we found positive in AppOptics from others is:
Easy to install and manage. Various stack support. Point to point deep-dive metrics and correlation. Metrics like DB connection, query analysis, latency in API calls, and other connections, response codes for various APIs, etc are the key ones in our case, which AppOptics provides efficiently. Alerts can be sent on different channels. Read full review Return on Investment The ROI has been very good with this product, we have seen multiple folds of time-saving by using this tool and preempting any risk associated with non-performant times of our server, hence increasing the team's capability to respond to certain downtime scenarios and the level of action that needs to be taken. Catchpoint’s observability solution makes it easier to have global visibility of our website's performance and to fix issues quicker I don't have any negatives, every good product comes with a cost, that is the fact but the Catchpoint tool has ultimately improved our ROI much beyond the changes that we pay Read full review Application monitoring troubleshooting became more accurate.
