- Provides a consolidated feed of recent activity (messages posted, discussion threads, sprint planning and recap posts, etc.).
- Provides email updates on what has been happening on the board, with the option to not email you during non-work hours.
- Allows for both synchronous and asynchronous discussions, which is great for working with offshore teams.
- Does not allow for information to be automatically ported over (via API or similar) to our user story tracking platform.
- Doesn't provide an easy way to search for file or image attachments that were added in various discussion threads.
- Unclear how or why some files are accessible via the Docs & Files tab, and some aren't.
- Basecamp has a user friendly interface that's quite straightforward and intuitive
- Basecamp allows organization by "projects" and "discussions" so everything is easy to find if you label things
- Basecamp sends an email for every new post or reply so that you get notified for updates in the platform
- When selecting and uploading files, there isn't an option to drag and drop
- To my knowledge, there isn't an option to include a link as an anchor text. It will be the entire URL that's being displayed if you insert a link
A project management tool that streamlines our process
- Communication. Since it sends you emails as well as gives you a notification in the top bar when you're needed, it's easy to stay on track with comments and feedback.
- File sharing. It supports a lot of different file types, so when referencing a file you can see it right on basecamp without having to download it on your computer first.
- Organization. With large projects it can get overwhelming with lots of comments, comps, and feedback. But with some planning and the use of the Project Activity timeline, it's easy to stay on track.
- High Learning Curve. It's true that it can be easy to use, but to use well and effectively takes some time to learn. It's recommended to have an agreed-upon system in your team of what tools to use and when.
- Notification Overload. If people aren't careful they could send a notification to everyone when only a couple people were meant to be prompted. And since emails are sent by default, you could have your mailbox overloaded with unnecessary updates. This is where it takes a bit of training in your team to have an agreed-upon system.
- Lack of organization with Archived Projects. I will often need to reference an archived project to make a new one, but there is only a list of archived projects in alphabetical order, with no way to organize by archive date, or even search.

Basecamp is all the Buzz!
- Unlimited users and projects. It's great for multiple purposes and it allows you to receive a free two month trial without providing a credit card and it gives you access to every tool and feature unlike many other softwares.
- User friendly. It's a simple design and you don't need to worry about losing information as it auto saves everything. You are able to retrieve any deleted files for about a month. The mobile apps are great and Basecamp allows you to make a to do list.
- Customer support is efficient even though they don't provide the level of support other software does, they are quick to respond to emails and questions.
- It's great at allowing you to have a detailed discussion with a group, advertise an upcoming event and easily provide updates. They send email communications when there is an update in a group you are in however you could filter and opt out of this feature.
- Unable to customize your interface. You are unable to insert a logo or change features like color schemes.
- It's limited in features. It's great for task management and communication. There needs to be more reporting and budgeting.
- To do items are unable to be set to recurring, i wish there were more in depth features for customization. There's a lack of a traditional calendar view.
Communicate easily using Basecamp
- Easy to add new users and access user information.
- Easy to integrate with email.
- Data is organized well in Basecamp, by new discussions, calendar, projects etc.
- Base camp is good for communicating with other users but not apt for project management.
- It lacks advanced features in project management like milestones, and schedule charts.
- Many reports or files can be stored within the system and accessed easily. But it is difficult to filter files by document type.
If a question or response is unsuitable for the group, it can be dismissed.
Many consider Basecamp to be a project management tool. In my opinion, it should not be used for project management.

Decent Application but Could Use Some Improvements
- Allows for a central location to manage multiple projects without having to log onto a VPN or company server.
- Create schedules and task lists for a project, as well as help organize documents that are associated with that project.
- It's a little clunky to use and doesn't always fit what our company needs, but it works for now.
- Wish there was a way to turn off email notifications for when a user is added to a new project so our employees do not feel like they are getting spammed whenever a new folder is created.

- Inexpensive if you have a huge team or want to use it for multiple clients
- An amazing founding company story and vision
- Can't do the advanced things you can in other project management tools
- Not the best at forecasting or measuring how many resources your teams have
- Not as strong if you use it for everything (e.g., file storage and messaging)
In my role, I need to plan much more in advance and seeing the work unfold visually is the most important factor for me, so I wouldn't rate Basecamp as highly.
To accomplish your mission, you need a good Basecamp.
- Basecamp makes it easier to stay organized when you have a large number of concurrent projects, each with its own associated team and needs.
- Streamlines communication about projects by keeping specific teams of people grouped together as needed, and keeping all project-related files in one go-to location.
- Gives each project it's own distinct space, preventing clutter and other confusion between projects.
- I do wonder if Basecamp could be better integrated with other software. We often had to resort to keeping important links in text files in Basecamp folders. I don't know what the obvious improvement is, but that wasn't always ideal.
- I also wonder if the email notifications could be cleaned up a bit. I remember getting large numbers of email notifications, and you just become numb to them after a while, nullifying the intended effect. If there was a way to lump the notifications into a summary, thereby reducing the overall number of emails, that probably would have been better.
Basecamp helped us reach the top!

Basecamp allows us to effectively manage all our projects
- It is easy to implement and it is simple to assign tasks because the interface is excellent.
- It is excellent for creating a work calendar with specific tasks and dividing them according to areas and processes.
- The chat room is effective, to publish information about the organization.
- It is very useful that all conversations, requirements and shared files are stored on the platform.
- It facilitates the monitoring of the work of each professional, something very significant for the internal management of the projects.
- It is a very excellent program to plan projects in an organization, although Their reports regarding time issues are somewhat basic or elementary.
Good Project Management Tool on a Budget
- Basecamp has a very simple and effective product that is easy to navigate and not overwhelming compared to other project management type tools out there.
- Their price point is superior to any other tools out there. You can have unlimited users for just $99 per month and 500 GB of cloud storage.
- Their campfire chat area is a great alternative to emails. This plus to-do lists saved a lot of time in drafting follow up emails and checking in with accounts.
- They have virtually no reporting within the system, which makes it very difficult to figure out how to improve systems and optimize.
- Their integrations feel a bit lacking, especially again with any reporting tools out there.
- The lack of customization has been frustrating at times. For example, there isn't a way to hide whatever you want in a project, so we've had some customers confused about certain sections where we've had to explain to them to just ignore those.
A simple to use tool for a marketing team
- Accountability for tasks: it's clear who is responsible for what.
- Team communications: we use Basecamp to communicate so we don't waste time scheduling extra meetings.
- We would love to see more integrations -- we use HubSpot for our marketing activities.
