The team uses Flock alongside Asana (our primary collaboration tool). We have multiple teams working separately with Asana, and Flock is the one place we can all communicate and coordinate together. So it keeps us all connected and working together even if some members are currently working on different projects.

Flock is a great communication tool. However, it's in a very competitive space. It offers seamless app integration (i.e., google calendar and drive) to allow for easy use across the platform. It's a great communication tool. However, if you don't need an overloaded app, there are other options out there. And for work purposes, it only covers some of what you need.

  • Quicker communication than email allows for a faster workflow.
  • Integration with Outlook and Calendar keeps everyone on task and up to date with deadlines.
I mainly prefer Asana as a task management tool, but I prefer Flock to Slack for communication. Flock bridges the gap between the two, and I find it's the best niche is for businesses or collaborators who need some integration (drive or calendar) but mostly need it for its chat functionality and keeping everyone on task. If a business need's far more comprehensive task management, then Asana is vastly superior. But if communication and coordination are the main goals then Flock does the job perfectly and seamlessly
We've only needed customer support a few times with Flock (mainly concerning app integration and security), and they've always been timely and helpful, which are the only things I truly need from support. The response rate was still rapid, and there's plenty of support available online as well for Flock.

Flock is basically the lifeblood of our firm. We use it daily for communication, calendaring, notes and anything else you can think of. We are a 2 person firm and we are never usually in the office together so it solves the communication problem perfectly. I can't imagine how we organized our notes pre-Flock.
  • Real-time communication is perfect.
  • The mobile apps really let us take everything on the go.
  • It integrates perfectly with our calendar.
  • Search functionality is great but could always be improved.
  • Maybe some more UI configurations. Allow the end-user to customize more. Color coding always helps.
  • Improve to-do apps. It's somewhat convoluted to use.
The elephant in the room is Slack, and I personally think Flock takes the best parts of Slack and improves upon them in a more cost-effective package. It is perfect for a small team. Especially if the team members are rarely together. The mobile app really keeps us all updated in real-time.

  • Organizing notes manually has been drastically reduced. Flock folders and chats are perfect for keeping each file separate.
  • We have not missed one calendar event with Flocks integration of our Google Calendar.
  • Being able to cut out or $99/month case management software has saved a ton of money each month.
Flock as mentioned takes the best of all these apps and improves upon them. Flock's UI was exactly what we were looking for and Flock doesn't overcharge small teams for search functional or messaging. It just offers a great product at a great price combined with great support. Their chat ticket system works almost immediately.
They use a chat support system and they always respond immediately to my questions.

Among the many communication platforms we have tried, Flock has proved to be the most reliable communication software in this organization. Flock is used in the entire organization irrespective of the departments. With our computers set to open automatically when launched in the morning, this helps in relying on information across a large number of people at the same time. The automatic opening of Flock is the most reliable feature of this app because no one forgets to open this software.
  • Networked phones are a thing of past now. We don’t have to stop what we are doing to receive phone calls currently because Flock can do that
  • It is now easy to send messages to many people at the same time, all we need to do is to add all the contants in the chat and select all to send a message
  • This software has an in-built to-do-list which allows us to assign tasks to different people or users and then supervise each independently
  • Flock's video and audio quality is sometimes poor as a result of poor internet connectivity
  • It has a messaging limit of 10,000 messages which makes it hard for us to keep messages for future reference
Flock is a superb software for an office setting especially where employees are undertaking same task or project at different locations. With Flock, the chat can be kept ongoing in order to resolve issues which may arise in the process. However, Flock is not the best platform where video and audio calls are involved. Because the quality is poor.

  • Communication has highly improved in the organization, courtesy of Flock
  • Less time is now spent on phones because all questions have been answered by Flock
The user interface is fantastic and that makes it easier for all the users
The support team is very active and responsive 24/7
Unlike Flock which is more official, Google Hangouts are geared towards personal communication rather than business. Flock on the other hand has many features which relate to business setting

Flock is a great resource for communication within the office. We use Flock throughout our entire office and we have also added people from other departments into some of our chats that pertained to them. We have all of our computers set to automatically open Flock when our computers are turned on every morning. This is great because no one 'forgets' to open it and then misses important messages.
  • Flock prevents us from having to stop what we are doing to go over to someone else's desk to communicate with them.
  • Flock makes is easy to send out office wide messages to go to each person who has been added to our chat.
  • Flock allows multiple chats to be set up under each account. For each chat, the original person who created the chat can choose who is in the chat and also whether each person is allowed to read-only or to also send messages.
  • Flock has a built-in to-do list. On this list, you have the option of assigning each task to a different person/user and then can check off each item as it is completed.
  • There is a 10,000 message limit but this shouldn't be too much of an issue unless you are sending LOTS of messages.
  • Audio and video quality can sometimes be distorted during video chats.
Flock is great for an office setting where there are several employees who all work together but that are located in different areas of the office. We are able to keep an ongoing chat to quickly resolve any issues or answer/ask any questions amongst each other. Flock would not be great for constant video communication as the audio and video quality can sometimes be a little off.

  • Flock has made it so much easier for our office to communicate.
  • Flock has allowed us to spend less time on the phone or at other employees desks because we can have questions answered via Flock.
I did not like Google Hangouts. Hangouts is more geared toward personal communication instead of business related communication. Flock is also a lot easier to use and has more options related to a business setting.

We used Flock as a messaging tool for the entire company. Each department had different channels, specialty groups had channels, and we also used it for one-on-one communication.

We'd used Slack in the past but dropped it due to the limited message storage with the free version. We moved to Glip (a message service that comes with the RingCentral suite of tools), but as we moved away from RingCentral, we needed a new tool. Flock was a decent tool compared to the rest. Unfortunately, there was a similar messaging limit with Flock, but we stuck with it anyway.
  • Good value (we used the free plan and it did plenty).
  • There were some additional messaging properties (sending stickers, being alerted when changes were made to GDocs, etc) that were nice.
  • Few bugs, UX issues, or errors.
  • Gifs--a popular feature of messaging programs like Slack--were pretty weak with Flock. You didn't get to choose which one you wanted (like the way Slack used to be), but the selection seemed to be pretty limited/bad, and it also seemed like the gifs were sped up? So they looked pretty bad.
  • There were only ~5 reactions available (like, thumbs up, laugh, sad, angry?). Although better than Glip (you can only "like" in Glip), it would be nice to have more variety there.
We originally moved to Flock because we thought it did not have the messaging limit that Slack has--and that would have been our only reason. Unfortunately, it has the same limit. So it's basically just a lesser version of Slack, with fewer fun features like gifs and reactions. I'm not sure why anyone would pick Flock over Slack if you are going for a free messaging service.

  • It was free, so it got the job done without costing anything.
  • The fact that it did not 100% satisfy the team meant that it is going to take us some time in the future to find an alternative.
Flock is similar to Glip, with only two notable differences: the gifs are worse but the reactions are slightly better. Integrations are a little better, albeit a bit confusing. For example, there is a built in video conferencing feature where you can video chat with someone, but you can only do it for 20 minutes? In general, it's about the same. Slack, on the other hand, is much more fun with gifs and a full list of reactions.
