- Business Problems Solved
Viewpoint ProContractor is a versatile software that is widely used across different departments in organizations. The accounting department relies on it for efficient job cost management, while project managers and engineers utilize its features to track job costs and budgets. With the capability to create purchase orders and track purchases, the software provides valuable insights into project costs.
In the estimating department, Viewpoint ProContractor shines in earthwork and large area takeoffs, enabling precise measurements and helping teams better understand the project site. The software even allows for the import of CAD files, expediting the takeoff process. However, some organizations have transitioned to more user-friendly products as ProContractor's complexity grew over time.
Seamlessly integrating with the Viewpoint accounting system, ProContractor primarily serves as a comprehensive business ERP solution. It supports various functions such as accounting, payroll, project cost accounting, vendor management, and select project management features. However, it may not be the go-to choice for estimating, equipment management, or materials tracking.
Users appreciate how Viewpoint ProContractor helps them stay organized with current and ongoing projects. It assists with ordering supplies, scheduling subcontractor appointments, managing bills, and tracking work orders and jobs. This software proves invaluable for streamlining accounting and dispatching tasks within General Contracting companies that have relied on it for over a decade.

Reviews
(1-5 of 5)- Line item capability inside projects
- Ease of equipment setups
- Employee hours and earning reports from a job perspective
- Overall software development seems to be lacking - I know it is a program under Vista, however I do not believe Viewpoint ProContractor has the support of Viewpoint that it once did
- The adjust contract invoice function can create financial problems with miscalculations if a change occurs from one year to the next .
- Overall the program is very "clickly" and not very user friendly in my opinion. For example all projects must be set up with an underscore rather than a hyphen. Multiple button clicks are needed for something simple. The warnings don't always provide a solution to the error.
- History - If I wanted to see who was last in a project setup and adjusted billing codes on a project there is no way to do so. Although it is not needed frequently it would be helpful if Viewpoint ProContractor had the capability.

- Overall it allowed us to go electronic for certified payroll allowing us to be more accurate in reporting which was a giant win for the company
- It's viewable pay estimates with dates and records of payment are crucial to a company like ours that relies on a general contractor and the state for payment of EADA quantites
- Negatively training is not the easiest for the company and therefore onboarding new employees with no experience with the software is time consuming and difficult.
