Overall Satisfaction with TriNet

Our organization uses TriNet as our PEO. As a small nonprofit, TriNet provides a platform solution for our payroll and benefits and compliance and policy support. We've utilized TriNet's support through workforce planning, state and federal leave compliance changes, policy builds, benefits enrollment, and remote I9 verification compliance.
  • TriNet has an expansive repository of resources, which is particularly helpful as a small organization.
  • TriNet provides support for a range of HR functions that allow us to have a go-to support option in one location.
  • TriNet utilizes webinars, newsletters, announcements, and other convenient and accessible avenues to stay up-to-date on the often-changing compliance measures, as well as feature announcements, trainings, and updates.
  • TriNet's customer service has always been respectful but nearly all interactions have had a point where there was follow-up promised and not received and where I'm unable to reach anyone or get a response mid-case. It's common that I'll finally get to someone that can help me, only for them to say they'll email me information. When that information is received, it's missing aspects of my question/need, and it takes several emails (and sometimes weeks/months of repeated follow up) to get the rest of the information needed.
  • TriNet's chat support almost always has to transfer me to another team, oftentimes 2-3 times because a representative transferred incorrectly. This is very frustrating and causes me to have to have longer wait times and repeated questions/explanations to get caught up.
  • We've used TriNet to improve payroll accuracy and efficiencies.
  • We've used TriNet to maintain compliance across over 20 states with varying paid sick leave requirements.
  • We've used TriNet to ensure compliance with I-9 verifications in a fully remote setting.
  • We've used TriNet to support employee questions and employee training during benefits enrollment.
The usability is generally understandable once I navigated several times through. Some elements seem housed in non-intuitive areas and some of the resources and trainings could be easier to locate to be able to be utilized better (or recorded for accessibility).
TriNet has an incredible amount of resources and information available to help support small businesses. The accessibility of support is a challenge and a point of frustration for me. Their chat feature is convenient but it typically comes with being transferred several times (usually with incorrect transfers). When I've contacted for support, it often takes several follow ups to reach someone and to have full answers to the issue/need at hand.
N/A (I was not employed during this time and I'm unsure if we were partnered at that time).

TriNet provides valuable PEO support for our small nonprofit organization. With an "HR Department of One" with a nationwide full remote staff, we rely heavily on TriNet's support in payroll services, onboarding, compliance, benefits administration, training (especially for managers and for DEI initiatives), policy, and many other aspects of HR. We have not utilized the add-on services as a small organization, such as their ATS or performance management system.

TriNet Reliability

We use TriNet to support our small nonprofit. We're fully remote, and TriNet flexes across multiple states (~25) very easily and seamlessly. Their expertise has helped with both payroll and compliance measures across states. It's also been easy to set up departments and designated funding sources for each employee. Our scaling is very simplistic, and therefore I'm not able to speak to scalability on a larger scale.
I haven't had any issues with TriNet's availability. There are very occasional planned outages, but they've always been significantly outside of business hours and for such a short period of time (an hour or a few hours) a few times per year, from what I remember. Customer service and our key points of contact have been readily available as we've needed them.
I haven't had any issues with TriNet's performance. It would be helpful to see some navigation improvements (where to find things, having fewer clicks to get somewhere, better labels, etc.), but slow-downs or performance from my experience is more tied to that than tied to actual functionality and performance of the platform itself. I've always had reports, landing pages, and documents load quickly. I don't currently have TriNet integrated with external systems or software to speak to integration performance.
