Chose Azure AI Language
We haven't used other products. Our experience with Azure, whilst not meeting our needs this time around, was positive, educational and insightful. This was the first time that we had considered using an AI tool to manage and manipulate our data and we were unsure of the …
MemoQ is better quality and cheaper. Previously, Trados had a monopoly on the market but fortunately there are other adequate options available now at a lower cost.
I tried using memoQ to get used to server-based localization tools, but experienced critical issues such as translation data not being updated on the server so stopped using it before I get used to it, unfortunately. It must be updated and improved by now, so I might try using …
It is not our main CAT tool but having an SDL Trados Studio license is really handy as we receive new requests as Trados project packages regularly. It is not as efficient as Memsource for example but it is a great option and has many features.
We occasionally use Smartcat as well and love that it is more tailored to freelancers and smaller (boutique) agencies. It also has better overall team-management features, however SDL is a popular choice of many bigger clients that we work with, hence, choosing it was a …
I did a private application that extracts data from an Office application and sends it to a Word table and allows the user to work there directly. Of course, SDL Trados is better than competitors but could do a better job with the formatting display in the Editor. I am aware …
I prefer Trados Studio to other online CAT tools, since online CAT tools can turn very slowly, because of the internet. The fact that I can import documents in Excel, PowerPoint, editable PDF, and Word format helps a lot, as well as the compatibility of Trados with MemoQ. …
We have tried a variety of other CAT software at times. The problem is that few have the market penetration or critical mass of users that SDL Trados does. It's not that the software is the best out there, it's long term stability and the number of users that is more important. …
The interpretation business is taking care of business. There are loads of various agile devices out there meant to encourage interpreters and organizations to do their work quicker and with the quality customers expect. I have been an SDL Trados client for very nearly ten …
We thought that the language recognition and recording would be ideal for our needs. We did a lot of set up and testing but eventually decided to take another route as we were up against tight deadlines and limited skilled resource for the task. Had we had more time and the project was longer we would have pursued with using the product as it would definitely have been a useful. The experience gained was useful and we will keep the product in mind for the future.
Although now there are competitors, it held a monopoly on computer assisted translation packages for some years. If high prices and poor customer support are not an issue for you, by all means purchase it. Other translators can find better options elsewhere in 2022.
The data is pre configured that means the AI models that are used by features are not customizable. One needs to send data and have to use the output of the feature in our application
Availability of customizations in order to adjust some specific requirements
Availability of Language studio so that one can avoid coding
Again, the list of functions is impressive but the way it is organized (not process-driven) and the fact that complex tasks should be close to basic tasks make the product suitable to hardcore users that have a lot of time to research the manuals and blogs. By the way, Nora Diaz is one of the most respectable users of this product. Her videos help a lot!
Support has been fast, precise and thorough. There is support on the web, by chat, by email, from the communities, from the experts, on the product Help section, on YouTube, and other social media. There is also a paid support for companies. This area is where the company stands out. I was not able to evaluate the support in languages other than English.
We have tried a variety of other CAT software at times. The problem is that few have the market penetration or critical mass of users that SDL Trados does. It's not that the software is the best out there, it's long term stability and the number of users that is more important. We need to be compatible with our suppliers, so the choice is made on that basis.
