Azure Virtual Desktop vs. Oracle Secure Global Desktop

Currently Azure Virtual Desktop enviroments are our first choice for all customers. Especially because most of our customers already have a M365 License which includes Azure Virtual Desktop usage. We deploy it for both RemoteApp and Full desktop solutions. This gives us the flexibility to "lift and shift" a specific workload of more legacy customers towards the cloud and provide them with a secure solution to use their apps in the cloud from anywhere.

I believe Oracle Secure Global Desktop is better used on a larger device such as a desktop or laptop, as the Android platform is a bit confusing when initially introduced to fellow employees who were familiar with the other layout.

• Troubleshooting bit limited as it's running on MS cloud. You don't have that level of access to get the logs data.
• App or ISO update management also complex compare to user management. It also hard to predict cost when you have inflex of usage. not really straightforward to tell which group/users are using most of the resources.
• as I mention earlier, troubleshooting is limited. When you have peak hour usage, user may see some performance issues.

• Is not supported on Apple devices.
• Support on Android - the functionality feels flimsy and the layout isn't as user friendly as I thought it would be in comparison to when it is used on a desktop platform.
• Initially, when first using the product a year or so ago, I received a lot of complaints of random error messages. Though that problem seems to have been solved in the interim.

Stability and latency complaints are common, but not experienced by all users. A drop in overall productivity can be seen in contributors who rely on a lot of copy-pasting for editing, so some such commands are not instantaneous. Set up is intuitive and the tool is simple enough. It was quick to adopt and stick to.

Licensing is much more cost effective as our users are not regularly using remote access. Having to purchase user cal's "just in case" was expensive. Citrix over the last few years has become more difficult with licensing and support. We were glad to move away. As our users use Azure Virtual Desktop as a fallback, it proved to be a much more cost effective solution, and FSLogix and W11 provide a better end user experience.

Tarantella gave us a lot of issues, but with Oracle Secure Global Desktop [we got] the huge portfolio of Oracle applications from almost any browser, without the headache of application dependencies, plugins, java etc. My fellow employees like the way Oracle Secure Global Desktop gives us the "feel" of many little desktops but with one machine.

• Though this virtual desktop had its cost but it is better in the longer run as we dont need to upgrade our not much older machines
• Only concern is we need to make sure that we provide better internet connection at all time
• The productivity has gone up multifold since previously we used to struggle with our older machines capacity to process data

• Efficiency is definitely a good description. The easy to use platform allows fellow employees to move through their online apps with ease.
• Applying new online apps is a lot easier, as we do not have to rely on a central server to pull information.
• As our client is national, it's good to have quick, reliable cloud access to all sensitive materials without worrying about security issues.
